Become Healthier
Hello
2012! With a turning of a new year means 'new year resolutions', or the
same ones we have yet to accomplish. We all know quickly our time is
taken by 'other things' during daily life BUT We Must Take a Stand This
Year! 2012 is OUR YEAR! This is the year of action, get up and move! A
few of the top resolutions across the nation consist of spending more
time with family, getting in better shape, decreasing debt, or cutting
the waist line by losing weight. Do any of these sound familiar to you?
These most popular resolutions can be addressed under the "become healthier" category in mind, body and spirit.
With
the idea of becoming healthier I want to remind people to take small
steps. No one can drop 2 sizes in a day nor run a marathon the week
after starting a brand new running program. However if people knew of
the FUN and IMPORTANT facts about weight loss then they may gain some
increased motivation to keep going. Here is one for you to think
about...For every pound a person drops it automatically takes 4 pounds
of pressure off the knee joints!! (Anyone with sore knees at the end of
the day will appreciate that factoid!)
Here are some helpful tips to help you start the new year off right and become healthier.
- Supplements are a must in todays world. The top 5 are a good multi-vitamin, Vitamin D, Omega-3 (fish oils), Magnesium, and a probiotic. These along with a healthy diet will support overall health as well as help promote weight loss along with an anti-inflammatory diet.
- Eat as many vegetables as you can and substitute the rest of your diet with fresh fruits and lean meats. Stay away from processed foods and as many grains or gluten as possible. Shop "outside aisles" in the grocery store, think of it as a track around a football field...Stay on the Track and out of the middle!
- Try and do some sort of cardio and strength training 3-5 times per week. This can be as little as brisk walking 30 minutes a day and doing strength training with objects at the house such as soup cans, animals, or children :)
- Visit your local chiropractor and massage therapist who has training in nutrition, fitness, and wellness to help you on your journey to health.
